4th annual Free Activist Witchcamp
July 20-26, 2008

We are delighted to announce that Free Activist Witch Camp will be hosted at the Wolf Creek Radical Faeries Sanctuary

"Originally envisioned simply as a place to host Radical Faery gatherings, Nomenus's eighty-acre sanctuary in Wolf Creek has since evolved into the home of a small intentional community of Caretakers and long-term visitors, as well as a site for shorter personal retreats and workshops. It has become a place where we explore the nature of queer men's spirituality and community on an on-going basis in our communal and private circles, our discussions and our collective labor to nurture and beautify the Sanctuary.

The Land is located in a valley in the mountains of southern Oregon. Hillsides forested with douglas fir, madrone, big leaf maple and white oak surround a lovely rolling meadow and the flowing waters of Wolf Creek. In addition to the communal buildings of Garden House and the Barn, there are several cabins to house the Caretakers scattered about the Land. There are also flower and vegetable gardens to nurture and play in and altars and holy sites where we commune with the gods and the spirits of the Land and the Dead. "

What to bring to camp:
(These are suggestions)

* Water bottle, water filter, and maybe a supply of water
* Tent (something water and bug proof)
* Warm sleeping bag, pillow and ground pad / air mattress
* Multiple layers of clothing - weather can range from hot to freezing -- cold rain is possible
* Practical hiking footwear
* Personal biodegradable toiletries
* Towel (there is swimming, but no bathing in the river. We'll have solar showers instead)
* Tarps, umbrella, and other shade/rain device.
* Plate, bowl, cup, eating utensils
* Flashlight and extra batteries
* Bag to carry stuff with you all day
* Insect repellent and sunblock
* Toilet paper, if you need it (some leaves and lichens work better)
* Chair or camp stool for back support (the ground will be available)
* Foods-for your snacking and special needs
* Basic first aid kit
* Journal and pens / pencils
* Musical instruments and songs to share
* Ritual attire, magical tools and altar items
* Self-expression and a sense of humor

We are fundraising to provide some basic infrastructure, and since this a co-created Witchcamp, most of what we use will be brought by each other. Here is a partial list of our community needs:

* Containers: large buckets, barrels, jugs with lids
* Tools: axes, saws, shovels, pickaxes, rope, etc.
* Food: bulk grains, fresh vegetables, oil, etc.
* Ritual-space-making materials: fabrics, chimes, etc.
* Whatever you want to share

What not to bring:
(again, just suggestions)

* Alcohol and non-prescription drugs
* Firearms and other weapons
* Stiff upper lips
* Knotted undies
